EVANGELISM STRATEGY AND GROWTH: ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UKWA DISTRICT ABIA STATE NIGERIA (1999-2024)

Abstract

This paper examined the various evangelistic approaches adopted by the Assemblies of God Church in Ukwa District, Abia State, Nigeria. Evangelism has remained a fundamental mandate of the Christian faith, particularly within Pentecostal denominations such as the Assemblies of God Church. The Approaches strategically applied helped the church experience tremendous growth. The church adopted a blend of personal evangelism, openair crusades, door-to-door outreach, media evangelism, youth and women ministry initiatives, as well as social intervention programmes. The study showed that the effectiveness of evangelistic activities in the district was closely linked to contextualization, grassroots mobilization and active participation by members. A qualitative and descriptive method was applied in this work. It recommended an enhanced training for evangelists with increased utilization of digital platforms and strategic collaborations with community stakeholders to improve the overall impact of the outreach efforts.
